In 1982, the term ‘green building’ hadn’t even been conceived. Energy issues, on the other hand were on everyone’s mind. Oil prices were skyrocketing ($40/barrel!) and people were looking for energy efficient alternatives, particularly in their new homes. It was at this time that Don Ferrier started working with clients to build more efficient homes. Since then, Ferrier Custom Homes has developed a reputation as an industry leader and for cutting-edge green construction. Of particular note is Heather’s Home, an award-winning green home that Don built for his daughter. Biography: Honored to be named the National Association of Home Builder’s Green Builder Advocate of the year, Don’s passion for sustainable construction has been coursing through his veins since the early 80’s. Representing the 3rd generation of the Ferrier Companies, Don is no stranger to construction. He is a true visionary of energy efficiency, sustainable construction techniques, and travels across the US educating & guiding those within the industry & beyond on its inherent benefits. In his free time Don enjoys outdoor adventures, running, gardening & missions work. |
